Congratulations to our Great American Smokeout winners

FTS Operations Clerk Shellie Perryman had her last cigarette on Nov. 10. Her inspiration was to put forth more money towards insurance costs. Now that she has quit smoking, she will ultimately cut healthcare costs for her and her husband. We asked her if she noticed enhancements in her daily living; she said, “I can smell things better, taste more and stay in out of the cold. I’m not out of breath as much as before.”

Shellie said, “All the support I can get is truly appreciated! It’s rough though due to 36 years of smoking!” Let’s continue to support Shellie as she strives to remain smoke-free.

CMB City Driver Joe Cavello shared, “I had to have triple bypass surgery and the doctor said I was going to die if I did not (quit). Saia paid for the medication and it worked. I owe my life to the company.” We are so happy to have you with us, Joe. Your story has inspired us all to live a heart healthy lifestyle.

HGO Collections Specialist Melinda Voisin quit cold turkey in April after 30 years of smoking so that she could improve her blood pressure without medication. We asked her if she noticed enhancements in her daily living. She said, “Yes, I feel much better! My blood pressure is back to normal. And, my breathing is much better. I can go up a flight of stairs and do pretty much any exercise without getting short of breath.” Now is the best time to quit, Melinda. Keep striving and moving forward. You have our support!

Meet Saia’s New Wellness Champions

ACO Proactive Customer Service Notification Representative Andrew Efron

“My goal while working at Saia is to help the bottom line; I am invested in the well-being of the company.”

Andrew enjoys participating in run/walks that support a cause. He gets his exercise by walking his dog and strolling with his daughter. Having the impressive accomplishment of maintaining his health status since college, we know he has great tips and tricks to share with Saia.

SLC Operations Clerk Janelle Hole

“I would like to be a part of something that helps motivate me as well as others. I think health is important. I would like to lose about 20 pounds and have struggled with this for years.”

Janelle has participated in every Saia wellness challenge; therefore, her ideas and suggestions will play a significant role in helping the Delivering Wellness Committee strategize for future wellness challenges that all Saia employees have the opportunity to participate in.

LGO Claims Specialist Kelly Reppert

“After being in a car accident, I put on over 50 pounds. I wanted to feel good about myself so I made the decision to get healthy and from that point on, it has been an amazing journey. I joined a gym in March 2015 and signed up to start with a personal trainer once a week. Now, I am the strongest I have ever been. I work out at least five days a week and have signed up to run my first half marathon in March.”

Kelly is committed to staying in shape, being strong and eating well. She also has a sincere desire to help others enhance their quality of life and that is why she chose to be a wellness champion.
