Saia Honored with National Carrier Award

Saia LTL Freight was the recipient of Penske Logistics’ U.S. Less-Than-Truckload National Carrier Award, during the company’s virtual “Freight Management Trucking Carrier Awards” program.

This was the first year the company has offered an awards program recognizing the carriers that work within its partner network. Penske Logistics is a Penske Transportation Solutions company with operations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

"We were excited to be honored with this recognition by Penske during the inauguration of their awards program," said Saia Director of 3PL Sales Scott Jandacek. "In spite of last year’s many challenges, our team of employees worked diligently to make sure we met our customers’ service expectations. The partnership we share with Penske is rooted in the shared goal of providing terrific service for shippers."

Category winners were selected from among Penske’s expansive base of trucking carriers operating within its freight management operations. Award determinations included several qualifications, and a Penske enterprise scorecard combined customer, operations and sourcing feedback to honor companies in nine categories.

Saia Opens Latest Terminal in Delaware

Saia’s newest terminal near Wilmington, Delaware opened for business March 22. Our expansion into the Northeast began in 2017 and has been part of a multi-year plan to offer service in this region to both existing and new customers.

“The new facility in Wilmington enhances our service across this geography as well as throughout our network,” said Vice President of Operations, East Jared Mull. “Beyond this new terminal, we plan to open an additional four to six facilities throughout the course of this year, including our Northeast Atlanta terminal targeted for the fourth quarter.”

Just in the last four years, Saia has had much to celebrate with the opening of 19 terminals in the Northeast, including facilities in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, in addition to investments made in new state-of-the-art, flagship facilities in legacy markets such as Indianapolis, Indiana and Memphis, Tennessee.

“Despite the challenges that 2020 presented, we are continuing to execute our plans to grow and provide quality, industry-leading service for our customers,” said Mull. “Our success is due to the dedication of our operations and sales teams as well as the excitement of our customers who have been very positive, showing tremendous support, about our expanding footprint.”
