Saia LTL Freight's new terminals in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, Pa. and Newark, N.J. began operations on May 1.

The four facilities have a total of 185 doors and over 80,000 square feet of space. Nearly 100 employees have been hired and trained as part of the expansion. This year, investments in equipment, infrastructure, and the new Northeastern terminals should total approximately $220 million, including the recent purchase of a facility in Maryland, which is scheduled to open in September.

Saia and TST Overland Express have entered into an exclusive partnership to serve both companies’ U.S.–Canada cross-border less-than-truckload (LTL) customers. As a result of the partnership, Saia LTL Freight will service TST Overland Express’ LTL freight entering the U.S. and TST Overland will service Saia’s entering Canada.

The partnership brings together two companies with deep LTL experience. TST Overland Express was the first Canadian carrier to provide cross-border LTL service in 1952.

Saia LTL Freight has been given a "Gold Service Award" by Lowe's Companies, Inc. A Fortune 50 home improvement company, Lowe's ranks No. 47 on the list and serves approximately 17 million customers a week in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Lowe's measures the performance of their carriers each week with regard to four primary objectives. Consistently achieving a high level of service in all four categories earns carriers one of three recognitions - silver, gold or platinum. In addition to these metrics, Lowe’s also factors in outstanding customer service and value-added supply chain solutions that have been provided by the carrier. This is the 17th time Saia has been recognized by the home improvement chain.
