Wreaths Across America

On Dec. 15, WAA is inviting Saia employees and their families to participate in our first-ever National Day of Service.

As many of you know, last year was Saia’s inaugural year partnering with Wreaths Across America (WAA). It was such an honor to help provide an additional 30,000 wreaths for cemeteries in the New York City area and participate in the wreath laying ceremonies there.

Not only were we inspired by the bravery and heroism of our military men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation, but we were also inspired by every Saia employee who helped with crossdocking, volunteered to lay wreaths, drive a truck, liked or commented on a photo, helped spread the word, and ultimately, who showed their support to our military families by honoring the WAA mission, “Remember our fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve, and teach our children the value of freedom.”

This year, we are partnering with WAA on Dec. 15 by inviting Saia employees and their families to participate in our first-ever National Day of Service. This day of service, which coincides with National Wreath Laying Day, will be an opportunity to assist in laying wreaths at one of more than 1,400 veterans’ cemeteries located around the country.

To sign-up, please fill out the form located on the Employee Information Center, or EIC, or see your terminal manager. Please note that the deadline for signing up has been extended to Dec. 7. Additionally, it was just announced that the top terminal in each division with the highest percentage of participation among employees will win a cookout, courtesy of our HR Department. They will also be featured in our next issue of Directions and be recognized by WAA.

Note that WAA does not receive any government funding. The organization’s financing comes solely from personal and corporate donations as well as volunteer truck drivers and companies who donate their time and equipment to support their mission.

We’re hoping to have a big turnout at each of our facilities as we strive to honor the sacrifice of our veterans during the holiday season!
