Around Saia

This month's Around Saia features the retirement of DLS Line Driver Gary Williams and WAC Line Driver Darrell Fieseler. Also included is a story on a Wreaths Across America Celebration at the CCI terminal. Other stories featured are the GLK Terminal celebrating "Juan Day" and the Illinois Trucking Association State Truck Driving Championships.

Williams Retires from Company

DLS Line Driver Gary Williams has retired after 21 years with the company. He was honored recently with a reception by his peers at the terminal who presented him with a cake and an award. All of us at Saia would like to thank you for your service, Gary, and wish you a wonderful retirement!

WAC Line Driver Retires

WAC Line Driver Darrell Fieseler retired July 10 after working at Saia for 25 years. In fact, he was one of the original employees at the WAC terminal! Employees celebrated Darrell’s years of service with a party featuring awards, a cake and laughter. Darrell, from all of us at Saia, a sincere thank you. You’ll be missed and we wish you all the best!

Wreaths Across America Celebration

Because the CCI terminal was one of the facilities that had the highest participation rate last year for Wreaths Across America, they were rewarded with a celebration. Terminal Manager Paul Howard, a fisherman, and his team put together a fish fry. Paul caught all the fish, red snapper, that was served along with his own homemade cocktail and tartar sauce and a special crunchy cabbage salad. It was a delicious meal and great way to celebrate! Congratulations to the CCI terminal!

GLK Terminal Celebrates Juan Day

In June, we announced that we would be recognizing GLK Line Driver Juan Alaniz as part of our "Celebrate What Matters!" program for his actions during an accident he encountered along his route . During what was dubbed, “Juan Day” at the terminal, employees were treated to a cookout and a special core values cake. Congratulations to Juan and the GLK terminal!

Remember, every quarter, we’ll ask our leadership team to submit stories of other employees who are also living the values through their actions. Submissions from each terminal will be reviewed by a committee and if chosen, the whole terminal will receive a barbecue or cookout! Every quarter, we’ll choose one terminal from each one of our 12 regions for recognition.

Congratulations to Truck Driving Championship Participants

In June, Saia proudly had two drivers compete in the Illinois Trucking Association State Truck Driving Championships in St. Charles. A terrific time was had by all. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our drivers!
