Company Update

This month, we are highlighting several new terminal managers, along with other employee promotions.

Abts Named GBY/WAU Zone Manager

Shawn Abts is now the zone manager for our Green Bay (GBY) and Wausau, Wisconsin terminals. Shawn brought 20-plus years of industry experience with him to his role, including a background in truckload and logistics. He is also a U.S. Army veteran. Having served in various operational leadership roles, including terminal manager and general manager, his expertise in developing teams and appreciation for Saia’s core values will serve him well at the rapidly growing GBY terminal.

Baker Promoted to Senior Treasury and Accounts Payable Manager

Melanie Baker was promoted to senior manager of treasury and accounts payable. She joined Saia in 2012 and had been serving as the company’s treasury manager. Melanie holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mercer University and an MBA from Shorter University.

Blake Serving as ATH Terminal Manager

Frank Blake joined the Saia team as the Athens, Georgia terminal manager. He has 30 years of LTL experience, 16 of which has been as a terminal manager. We are excited to have him on our team!

Gambino Named NHC Terminal Manager

Last month, Jason Gambino joined our team as the terminal manager for our new facility in New Haven, Connecticut. Jason proudly served our country in the U. S. Army. As a decorated veteran, he began his 20-plus year career in LTL as a dock supervisor, in addition to serving in various other leadership roles. Along with his operation’s experience, Jason brings a strong sales background to his new position with regard to the local LTL market. 

Hulburt Named MAD Terminal Manager

Brian Hulburt accepted the position of terminal manager for our Madison, Wisconsin (MAD) facility in November. In doing so, he brought 25 years of industry experience with him from a competitor, where he spent time as an operations supervisor, operations manager and terminal manager. He also possesses an added perspective from his time working in local and national sales. Brian is well versed in both the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois markets, which mirrors the footprint of the MAD territory.

Kyre Joins Saia as DEN Terminal Manager

Jon-Eric Kyre has been named our new Denver terminal manager. Though new to Saia, Jon-Eric has 10 years of experience in the LTL industry and has served in a variety of supervisory and management positions, most recently as a manager for Hub in both Sacramento, California and Portland, Oregon. He is a graduate of Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.

LeBoeuf Named Traffic Manager

Tanya LeBoeuf was named Saia’s new traffic manager in late October. Based at the HGO, Tanya now oversees the daily functions of both the traffic and publications departments.

She began her career at the company in 1996 and has served in a variety of positions including biller, rate clerk, publications clerk, EDI specialist, and traffic supervisor. Tanya possesses a paralegal associate’s degree.

New Managers Assume Roles in ANW and CTN

Jayson Murphy is the terminal manager for our new Northwest Atlanta terminal located in Calhoun, Georgia. Jayson has 27 years of LTL experience, joining the Saia team in 2017. For the past three years, he served as the Chattanooga, Tennessee (CTN) terminal manager. He has experience as a driver, dock supervisor, operations manager, linehaul dispatcher, and terminal manager.

With Jayson moving, Jeremy Combs took over the role of terminal manager for CTN. Jeremy has 16 years of LTL experience, most recently as terminal manager for another carrier. We are excited to have him bring his excellent operational experience to Saia.

Peterson Promoted to PHX Terminal Manager Role

Matthew Peterson is now serving as our new Phoenix, Arizona terminal manager. Matt joined Saia earlier this year and had been working as the assistant terminal manager at our Fontana, California facility. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Hope International University and is currently pursuing his master’s degree from Columbia Southern University.

While Matt has seven years of experience in the transportation industry, trucking is in his blood. His father drove for Reddaway for 17 years, Frito-Lay for seven years, and is now a driver trainer. His mother worked for Central Freight and Oak Harbor and has been a teacher for the past 20-plus years.

Thompson Named Accounts Receivable Manager

Darolynn Thompson has been named an accounts receivable manager. In this role, she now oversees the daily functions of the Accounts Receivable and Credit Departments at the HGO. Darolynn joined Saia in 2013 and had previously served as both a collection specialist and agency prevention specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resource management from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
