Company Update

This month's Company Update spotlights the announcement of the new  vice president and controller and several promotions.

New Vice President and Controller Named

Kelly Benton has been named the company's new vice president and controller. In this position, she will provide oversight of Saia's accounting and financial functions in addition to partnering with other members of the company’s management team to deliver strategic leadership and critical oversight of our business operations. She will be based at the ACO.

Until joining Saia, Kelly led RaceTrac Petroleum’s key accounting functions as their vice president of accounting since 2011. Prior to this, she served in financial leadership roles with Ernst & Young LLP. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is a certified public accountant.

YNG Terminal Manager Position Filled

Todd Fleckenstein was named our Youngstown, Ohio terminal manager in December. He brings 17 years of experience with him from Ward Trucking LLC, where he spent time as a dockworker, weights and inspections supervisor, operations supervisor, and terminal manager. In this position, he directed terminal operations across the state of Pennsylvania and parts of Eastern Ohio. Growing up, Todd was able to experience the trucking industry firsthand as his father was a supervisor at Preston and later Carolina, prior to retiring as a salesman for Estes Express Lines in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania.

Jandacek Receives Promotion

Scott Jandacek has been named LinkEx’s vice president of logistics. Since 2018, he had been serving as Saia’s director of 3PL sales, a role where he was instrumental in improving both our margin targets and balance ratios for our 3PL vertical. In his new position, a first for LinkEx, Scott will be involved in all aspects of managing the 3PL’s operations with an emphasis on business development. He will work closely with the National Account and Logistics Sales teams, making joint sales calls to help accelerate LinkEx’s growth.

Scott has 20 years of experience in the transportation industry and joined Saia in 2010 as an account executive. He was then promoted to terminal manager for Saia’s Minneapolis, Minnesota facility. He served in this role for over two years and was effective in providing consistent leadership for employees along with quality service to customers. In 2014, he was named a national account executive with responsibility managing the company’s top 3PL customers. Scott possesses a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University where he majored in finance.

Pena Named 3PL National Account Sales Representative

Jennifer Pena has been named a 3PL national inside sales representative. In this new role, she will be responsible for account management and profitable growth of 3PLs across the country. Jennifer joined Saia in 2017 and had most recently been serving as a proactive customer service representative.

Schneider Assumes 3PL National Account Sales Executive Role

Danny Schneider has been named a 3PL national account executive. He will be responsible for profitable growth and expanding relationships with strategic customers within the 3PL vertical.

Danny joined Saia in 2016 and has held several positions. Most recently, he was working as the 3PL inside sales supervisor. Danny holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina ,where he was a pitcher for the college’s baseball team.
