Letters

This month's Letters highlight Saia employees or departments that have received special thanks from some of our customers or the public.

Good Evening,

I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful employee you have at your Philadelphia terminal. I had a package that was lost and it was the only gift I was getting my kids for Christmas. PHI Operations Clerk Lisa Orlando quickly helped to locate the package and answered all my questions. Seriously, I called every single day for two weeks straight.

Matter-of-fact, everyone in that office was kind and understanding. Today, the driver delivered my package and he was also so kind and considerate. His name was PHI City Driver Joe Vinciguerra. In today’s day and age, it’s hard to find employees, let alone good ones. I just wanted to take the time to let you know how much I appreciated Lisa tracking my package each and every day until delivery.

I wanted to take a moment to send a note of praise to you regarding ATL OS&D Associate Patricia Forrester.

Nisshinbo Automotive was on the verge of a shutdown of up to 70% of their lines because of weather-delayed freight.  ACO Customer Service Representative Diane Palermo did a great job of getting the freight moving out of Nashville, giving us an arrival time of about 1 p.m. Patricia took it from there and went over and above anything I thought could be possible. She helped coordinate the unloading of the freight during the mid-afternoon and knew that the Atlanta terminal ran an afternoon swap trailer close to the Covington, Georgia area. She set up the delivery, coordinated with that trailer switch to deliver the product to Nisshinbo, saving them the cost of an expedited carrier from your dock to their plant, not to mention the difficulty of finding a carrier to handle it on short notice.

Patricia reached out to Nisshinbo to coordinate everything. Her communication back to PLS Logistics and Nisshinbo was just as she promised, keeping the production lines moving without a delay, getting the shipment delivered. I’m sure her terminal team had a lot to do with the success of this recovery as well, and their help is much appreciated, but Patricia was tremendous. (She also had us laughing throughout the process, taking the stress of the situation away. We were confident she would get it done.)

As of this morning, there was no chance that we could expedite freight from Elk Grove, Illinois to Covington to avoid a shutdown. And, we didn’t need to. Patricia was all we needed.

Keith Davis with Nisshinbo Automotive and I would like for you to share this with her management team. She’s an absolutely wonderful asset to Saia and we truly appreciate working with her.

I had a shipment that was handled by your company around the Christmas holiday. Despite being a busy time of year, with many challenges, I was able to get my product in a timely manner. At first, I had issues trying to schedule the delivery, but I was fortunate to speak directly with MIA Terminal Manager Ray Barnes. He was able to rapidly locate the shipment, get it unloaded, and put on a truck to be delivered the next morning. This man went above and beyond! He even gave me his cell phone number and texted me that morning to confirm that the driver was on the way.

Saia was able to deliver and Ray was the key piece that made it all possible. I’m sure as a company you might get negative reviews sometimes and the good deeds go unnoticed. This is why I’m going out of my way to make sure he’s recognized for his outstanding job. (I am a) highly satisfied customer.  Thank you.

Sincerely
Yairo Villar
