Company Update

This month's Company Update spotlights the announcement of a new director of linehaul; the new director, HR shared services; and two new terminal managers.

Hazelet Named Director of Linehaul

At the end of December, Michael Hazelet was named Saia’s director of linehaul. With 12 years of transportation experience, Michael joined the company in 2014.

He has worked in several positions, each with increasing responsibility, including as a dockworker, breakbulk supervisor, city dispatch supervisor, regional central dispatcher, and senior central dispatcher. He possess a bachelor’s degree in agriculture management from Ohio State University.

LeBarnes Joins Saia as Director, HR Shared Services

In January, Dana LeBarnes joined Saia as director, Human Resources (HR) shared services. In this role, he will be responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of HR shared services, which will include but not limited to simplifying high volume transactional HR processes; leveraging Workday, and other technology to automate HR processes; creating and managing on-demand services for people managers and employees via what is known as “knowledge management;” improving employee life cycle processes (onboarding to off-boarding); employee electronic document management; and ultimately, driving us towards a “consumer grade” experience for employees and managers who need HR-related answers or support.   

Dana has nearly 25 years of HR experience, primarily specializing in HR shared services. He has worked in multiple industries including specialty chemicals distribution, broadband technology/communications, and professional services. As an HR shared services leader, he is experienced in HR operations management; employee services; HR technology governance; high volume, transaction process improvement; payroll services; employee life cycle management; HR vendor management; HR call center management; and employee and management on-demand services. 

Most recently, Dana was the director of payroll and HR operations at Univar Solutions, a commodities and specialty chemicals distributor. There, he led U.S. and Canadian HR shared services. Prior to Univar Solutions, he was the executive director, HR shared services at Cox Communications. Over his career, he has held similar roles at NCR, Market Source, Koch Solutions and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He began his professional career as an auditor at PwC. Dana holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southern New Hampshire University and an associate’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine. 

New BWI Terminal Manager Named

Montero Hardy has been named the terminal manager for our Baltimore, Maryland-area (BWI) facility. With over 12 years of experience in the transportation industry, nine in freight, Montero most recently worked at UPS Freight/TForce Freight. He possesses a bachelor’s degree in business.

Waldon Named MSP Terminal Manager

Curtis Waldon accepted the position of terminal manager in January for our Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota (MSP) facility, which is our largest inbound operation in the CGO Region.

Curt brings 30 years of LTL experience spanning all aspects of the operation, and has most recently served as both a zone manager and terminal manager for an immediate competitor in the MSP market. Being a lifetime Minnesota native, he has an expertise in the local pickup and delivery geography, and brings an extensive statewide knowledge of the MSP customer base as well.
