Company Update

This month's Company Update highlights the retirement of Saia's Vice President of Transportation and Engineering Brian Balius and two promotions to our management team.

Balius Retires After 28 Years

Saia Vice President of Transportation and Engineering Brian Balius has retired after 28 years with the company. Brian is a Mississippi State graduate that began his career at Saia as an operations supervisor in New Orleans.

He held numerous leadership positions at the company, which grew from 21 terminals operating in eight states to a $1.3 billion public company, during his tenure.

We'd like to thank Brian for his many, invaluable contributions to the company as we all wish him a much-deserved retirement!

Conner Named TOL Terminal Manager

Wade Conner has been named the new Toledo terminal manager. He had been serving as the manager for our Dayton, Sidney, and Mansfield, Ohio facilities.

Wade began his career with Saia in 2005 as a dockworker. Since then, he has held various positions including zone manager, traveling and hub supervisor, and lead.

Away from work, Wade enjoys fishing and coaching high school football and wrestling.

Newsome Promoted to TOL Zone Operations Manager Position

Doug Newsome has been named the new Toledo zone operations manager. Previously, he had been serving as the Toledo traveling supervisor.

Doug will manage our facilities in Grayling, Saginaw, and Jackson, Mich. as well as the terminal in Mansfield, Ohio. He began his career with Saia in 1998 as a part-time dockworker. Since then, Doug has held various positions including traveling supervisor, inbound and outbound supervisor, and lead.

He and his wife, Kendra, have been married for 10 years. They have three children – Marissa, Alyssa and Conner. In his personal time, he enjoys fishing.
